Etymology

The complete Chinese title is 大佛頂如來密因修證了義諸菩薩萬行首楞嚴經 (Da foding rulai miyin xiuzheng liaoyi zhupusa wanxing shoulengyan jing, Taisho no. 975), which may be translated as "The Summit of the Great Buddha, The Final Meaning of Verification though Cultivation of the Secret Cause of the Tathagata, and [Foremost] Shurangama of All Bodhisattvas' Ten Thousand Practices Sutra." It is also known in Traditional Chinese by shorter versions of the title such as 大佛頂首楞嚴經 (Da foding shoulengyan jing) or simply and more commonly 楞嚴經 (leng yan jing).

Jesus Christ is the son of God. Jesus said through him one could come to know his Father. I was born into a Christian family, nad after much soul-searching, I concluded that Lord Sri Krishna is the Father of His son, Lord Jesus Christ. What is the difficulty ? The name of Christ is derived from the older sanskrit name Krsta or Krishna. Whether one glorifies the son or His father, it is pleasing to the Lord. At the Last Supper, Lord Jesus Christ said his final words to his apostles, " People will know you to be my followers by how you love on another ". Where is that true Christian that is embracing the devotees of Lord Krishna ? Is he even experiencing the presence of Christ sufficinetly in his own life that he can recognize the presence of Christ anywhere else ? Unless those who profess to be Christians give up the barbaric activity of slaughering and consuming animals, they will never uderstand their master, Lord jesus Christ, what to speak of understanding his Father, Lord Krishna. How can a follower of Christ be a butcher or pay butchers to do their subhuman activity ? This is the antithesis of Christ and the Anti-Christ, in the guise of Christianity. It is better to admit one is an atheist then to mislead people proclaiming the way of Jesus while supporting the destruction of tropical rainforests so that millions of more cows can be placed on the chopping block of Mc Donald's.

this concept of Christ and Krishna are one and the same has been revealed to me by some higher power in my intutive level.By Their Graces i have been blessed to experience both Christ and Krishna consciousness,which is something to be experienced and not explained.I feel thankful to Them in allowing me to share this to a group of people realising the same concept. I share the similarity of names of Christ and Krishna as i have come to know from my guru of Geetha, Sri Guruparananda, and Srila Prabhupadha's writings. The word Krishna in Sanskrit can be split as "KARSHATHI PAPANI" ITHI KRISHNA: Which means "one who destroys our sins is called as Krishna. The root word for Christ in Greek is "CHRISTHOS". Which means one who takes away our sins and purifies us. Thus even in names They are ONE. May Krishna and Christ reveal their true similar selves to those who aspire, realise and crave for it.

I have never seen such a beautiful picture of both jesus and krishna to gether.
It especially interested me because i am a christian married to a bal krishna bhagat.. we have a little daughter who follows both religion beautifully .

One real christian never hate people because their Lord Jesus teach and showed us to love all. If any body tell Lord Jesus not God's son his only Krishn's representative no problem Lord Jesus don't want any recomentation from human being.Father Almighty Creator of Heaven and earth, honored and placed Him in the righ.Jesus Christ only person is eligble for that place and call God Son because He suufered to save humanity, given his life for penance of human sin. Now we will robe or do any harm to others we will punished by law same way. Lord's children(human being) sinned and hurt Father.To save humanrace from punishment, Lord Jesus carry all the humansins and He given His life as penality.

Jesus is the 2nd person in Holy Trinity.(Almighty God Father,Son Jesus Christ and Holyspirit.)Christianty is revealed religion. Loving Father send His only son Lord Jesus to save sinned and broken humanity. Jesus obeyed to Father Almighty, and came to earth to save the human race He suffered and sacrifice his life for the human race. Lord Jesus had only sufferings but we are not seeing Lord Krishna's sufferings. For each people having their own beleives. That is nice to see Jesus and Krishna together that only to open eyes ignorent and blind mad religious people. God for all and for every and He is a loving father for whole world and whole universal.

I've heard so many criticism Christian to Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna to Buddhism, Buddhism to Islam, Islam to Christian
and I could continue ...

I think many people stick to labeling and dont see the essence of things.

I wish we all could see that we're one large family,
that we all want to be happy ... that we - this way or another - try to unite with God / our higher Energy.

Also true I don't think there are any texts that say shiva is the supreme reality. But! Some Shiavite followers will direct you to the Linga Purana. In parts of The linga purana it talks abot the worship of the Linga (Shivling) and the importance of this.

It says-

"Shiva is signless (sexless), without color, taste or smell, beyond word and touch, without quality, changeless, motionless." (Linga Purana)

This unmanifest being can be perceived only through his creation, which is his sign or linga. The existence of the unqualified substratum is known and worshiped only through this sign. The linga , the giver of life is one of the shapes which represents the nature of the shapeless.

"Shiva as the undivided causal principle is worshiped in the linga. His more manifest aspects are represented in anthropomorphic images. All other deities are part of a multiplicity and are thus worshiped as images." (Karapatri, "Shri Shiva Tattva", Siddhanta).

Did you take the photo? It is quite interesting, i have never seen it like that before. Usualy lord Jagannatha is attended by balrama. Maybe its me just being ignorant, but i have never seen one like that with Ganesha.

The most famous shrine i think is located somewhere in Orissa? I am not really familiar with that part of India so i am not sure exactly where, because my mother's parents come from both Pune and Agra.

The Shaivite part of Hinduism, teaches that shiva is the ultimate reality and that all other dieties are forms of him, although this has been debated by various famous scholars,philosopher etc. Such as Adi Shankara. This is similar to the vaishnavas, but they believe that Vishnu is the Supreme one known as "Brahman". My Mother often refers to him as "Mahadeva".

Is vaishnava the same as iskon? although i have heard that your sect believe that Vishnu is another form of Krishna and that Vishnu is just another name for Krishna.

Thank you, that passage is very good. It is very nice and i shall write it down.

You are very learned in the texts, far more than me. i do have a copy of the Bhagavad Gita and the Vedas. I Have reacently been doing exams, so i have not really had enough time to look. The copy of the vedas i have was written in both English and the orginal characters, (Sanskrit). It was written by a man named "Pandit Vidyalankar". Its quite good but is not all complete and only seems to contain the main verses.

I do not mean to keep bombarding you with questions, but this i have been dying to ask you. Do your sect (ISKON), believe in Hindu Miracles, you know like, the hindu milk miracle of 1995. And more importantly the miracles of Sai Baba of Shirdi. Although i myself believe in his miracles, i do not believe in the miracles of Sathya Sai Baba asi think he is a fraud.

It is great to see more blogs featuring Hindu information. As a "British" Hindu i feel that the peaceful message of Krishna should be spread. Even though i am a devotee of Shiva, i believe ISKON show the true light and peace of Hinduism.
